Supporting Voluntary Action in the Canterbury Distirct
Befriending
We have been operating a befriending service for many years. Initially, this was primarily a face-to-face service but, since the Covid pandemic, we now operate a telephone based service.
The aim of this service is to match individuals who are isolated or lonely with volunteers to provide social contact and support on a regular basis.
Due to a decline in people coming forward to volunteer, we are currently trialling a new service utilizing our volunteer drivers to bring isolated and vulnerable older people to our offices, once a month to offer company, support and, where needed, signposting to other relevant agencies.
