Supporting Voluntary Action in the Canterbury Distirct

Suppporting Voluntary Action
in the Canterbury District

Last year, we gained funding from SGN and the Centre for Sustainable Energy, so that we could  offer energy support and advice to older residents of the Canterbury district.

Along with the provision of free carbon monoxide monitors, we also provided advice on keeping houses warm in winter, signposting people for benefits advice and the priority service register along with other measures such as referral on to Government funded retrofitting schemes.

Although, this funding has now ceased, we are grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for a grant from their Awards for All section to enable us to continue delivering this project for another year.

This will enable older people in the district to have access to relevant and pertinent advice and support so that they can keep warm in winter and cool in summer.

This will help people to save money on their bills and improve their homes at the same time.

We can help you with:

  • Signing up to the Priority Services Register (Gas, Electricity and Water)
  • Signposting to benefits advice
  • Free Carbon Monoxide Detectors
  • Promote access to any Government related retrofitting grants which they may be entitled to

If you know anyone who could benefit from this project, do get in touch!
